Lustre

Lustre is a parallel file system used on Euler for Scratch and Work.

Lustre distributes file data across storage targets depending on the striping configuration of the file or directory. If you need a specific striping layout, see the Lustre striping guide for details on inspecting and configuring striping. For quota information, use Euler's lquota command as described on the storage page.

Creating, deleting, renaming, or linking files requires locks on the directory because these operations change its contents. Performing these operations at scale (thousands of files) within the same directory may cause contention.

Lustre utilities

The lfs command provides information about Lustre file systems. For example, to inspect the striping layout of a file:

lfs getstripe /cluster/work/<group>/path/to/file
