User account
Euler is open to all members of ETH Zürich, including staff and students. The only requirement is a valid ETH account.
Creation¶
On your first SSH login, you need to accept the cluster's usage rules:
Please note that the Euler cluster is subject to the "Acceptable Use Policy
for Telematics Resources" ("Benutzungsordnung fuer Telematik", BOT) of ETH
Zürich and relevant documents (https://tinyurl.com/eth-bot), in particular:
* your Euler account (like your ETH account) is *strictly personal*
* you are responsible for all activities done under your account
* you must keep your password secure and may not give it to a 3rd party
* you may not share your account with anyone, including your supervisor
* you may not use someone else's account, with or without their consent
* you must comply with all civil and criminal laws (copyright, privacy,
data protection, etc.)
* any violation of these rules and policies may lead to administrative
and/or legal measures
Before you can proceed you must confirm that you have read, understood,
and agree to the rules and policies mentioned above.
Afterwards a verification code is sent to your ETH email address.
An access code has been sent to your registered email address.
Enter the access code at the prompt below.
If you have not received the access code within a few minutes,
then contact us by opening a ticket at
http://smartdesk.ethz.ch

Troubleshooting¶
No access code received¶
If you do not receive the access code, check your spam folder. If it is not there, you can try to log in again. If you still do not receive the access code, please open a ticket at Smartdesk and ask for help.
Account request does not work¶
A request for an Euler account is only required if you use the cluster for the first time. Please check if you already have access. If this is not the case, please contact cluster support.
No prompt to enter the verification code¶
Some settings in your SSH config can cause issues, where you don't get any prompt to enter the verification code after entering your password. Please try again to login to the cluster using the following additional SSH options:
Termination¶
Your Euler account is linked to your ETH Zürich affiliation. When you leave ETH, your account (along with access to other ETH IT services) will be deactivated automatically. For details on the offboarding process, refer to Leaving ETH.
